How we met
Despite both of us living — and working — just a mile away from one another, we needed the help of the algorithm to finally meet. Deanna also needed some convincing from a friend of a friend to actually swipe right on Nathan, having sworn off dating chefs. But she’s ultimately glad, and grateful, that she did.
Our first date took place in Jackson Heights on a sunny Memorial Day afternoon in 2023. We shared jhol momos at one of our favorite restaurants, Nepali Bhanchha Ghar, followed by fried beef momos at Phayul, and we’ve been sharing meals ever since.
The Proposal
Nathan schemed with our dear friend, Christina, to propose while we traveled to Copenhagen earlier this year. The setting he and Christina chose was the grand hall at Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød, just north of Copenhagen. It was a total surprise for Deanna, and Christina was an ace videographer and photographer. Afterward, we all celebrated with lunch at Rabarbergaarden Slottet.
